All fitting names for this urban legend. The story goes that she rules over all the rivers in Jamaica and that all the fish in the river are her children.

While she may not have the voice of one such beloved mermaid, she sure knows how to get what she wants. If you set eyes on her down by the river, combing her hair, just know that you'll be put you in a trance and dragged below the surface.

3. Rio Cobre

It's believed that the Rio Cobre river that runs under the infamous Flat Bridge in Jamaica is cursed. Thought to be the home of the River Mumma, many fear traversing this bridge given its history. You see, vehicles tend go over the bridge as their passengers get pulled into the river by an unknown force.

4. The Golden Table

If you're "licky licky" for all things gold, you're about to be in trouble with this mermaid. She doesn't play when it comes to protecting the legend that is the Golden Table. It's said that the table was left by the Spanish when they once ruled Jamaica and when the sun is high, it appears.

5. Catch Her If You Can
