4. The Diversity

The cast is one of the most diverse on TV. Just look at them! Look at them! (PS: Mark-Paul Gosselaar is half Indonesian!) The diversity continues behind the camera as well. Pitch has aired 7 episodes and has already had more female directors than most shows with 20+ episodes a season!

This show gives PoCs and women equal character and story development to that of a straight, cis-gendered, white male character.

Through its diversity the show represents what the world looks like. Through Pitch's storytelling with these characters, they show us what the world could be.

5. The Cast Has Some Real Ballplayers.

The show is dedicated to making the baseball as real as possible. Kylie Bunbury (Ginny Baker), Mo McRae (Blip Sanders), and Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Mike Lawson) all train thier butts off to make it as real as possible. Another way they make it so real? They have real ballplayers playing the rest of the team!

6. Ginny Baker...Duh!

Kylie Bunbury plays Ginny Baker, the first woman in Major League Baseball! She just wants to be a ballplayer. Ginny's story is so real. Without giving spoilers, Ginny is shown to be a complex character who battles with her identity, mental and physical health, and her relationships. Ginny acknowledges that it is not her responsibility to be the image of feminism, but at the same time she acknowledges she has a platform that no other woman had. She used that platform to speak out against victim blaming in sexual assault cases on Jimmy Kimmel. It's powerful moment. Ginny Baker deserves the world. Pass it on.

7. Lumberzack!

Okay...his name is Mike Lawson, but Tumblr user FanMomMer coined the term and it has stuck. Mike Lawson is the captain of the team. He's the daddy. He is grumpy and bearded and sometimes at Ben Wyatt levels of Human Disaster™, but we all love him anyway!

8. Blip Sanders

Blip Sanders is the best bro ever. He's a great friend to Mike and a best friend to Ginny. Blip brings honesty to every moment, and he often brings the humor. Plus, Mo McRae isn't bad to look at either.

9. Blip Sanders and Ginny Baker

Their friendship is perhaps my favorite friendship on TV. A friendship between a man and a woman that is 100% platonic. They are each other's best friends. There is no jealousy on either part for other relationships, and Ginny and Blip's wife are best friends. It's so rare to see a friendship like theirs on TV and I am loving every second of it!

10. Oscar Arguella

Mark Consuelos (who, before Pitch I referred to as Mr. Kelly Ripa) gives perhaps the most underrated performance on Pitch. Every week I find myself loving Oscar Arguella more and more. Oscar corrects his old white bosses who call him Spanish, he's Mexican! He is honest about his backstory. He rose up from poverty to be a ballplayer and then onto the GM of a MLB team! And the scene where he tells his daughter about his divorce? Heart-wrenching!

11. Amelia Slater

This badass woman gave up her career, filled with Clooneys and Jolies, to devote her life to Ginny Baker. She's more than just an agent who broke her glass ceiling, she's also a friend to Ginny. She came to Ginny's room in the middle of the night when she had a panic attack. Plus, Amelia never lets any man treat her like a groupie. Plus, look at this GIF! You're welcome, Internet.

12. Eliot!

Pitch offers us Tim Jo, who plays Eliot. Eliot is an Asian male character, in a series regular role on Network TV! Eliot isn't just a social media manager. He has a life, and it's a life we got learn about. He has a family, a girlfriend, a band!

13. The Cast

I've mentioned that the cast is diverse. I've mentioned that the cast is made up of some real ballplayers. What I haven't mentioned yet is how fun they are! This cast live tweets with fans every week and the cast interactions with fans are not limited to when the show is airing. The cast shows the same love and support that the fans show them.

14. The Fans

The fans are as much fun as this GIF is! There is so much love within the Pitch fandom. It's a love for the show. It's a love for each other. It's a love for the cast. And as mentioned above, all who are involved with the show give the same love back to the fans! Fans have gotten the show trending multiple times. Goal in life? Find someone who believes in me as much as Mike Lawson believes in Ginny Baker. The Bawson ship is what drew me to the show. Mike is the catcher. Ginny is the pitcher. They are a team within a team. He was her favorite Rookie, and now she's his. Plus, Mike is out here saying things like "She's important to me," and "you kind of blow me away." HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FUNCTION?!
