7 Things Only People Who Live In The Country Know To Be True

As a person who grew up in the country, I've often been on the receiving end of a city slicker's judgmental and confused face. I'd do something that was completely normal in my world, but was totally bizarro in theirs. Sometimes, they just don't get us.

1. We Just Have to Wave to Everyone

City Person: Did you know that person?

Me: No.

City Person: Then why would you wave?

Me: Because that's just what you do!

2. The Use of Motorized Vehicles Rather than Hills for Sledding

Why repeatedly trek to the top of the hill for a few seconds of fun when you can just drag your friends and family behind an ATV? There's a lot of face plants, snow in places it shouldn't be, and questionable moments when someone might need to be taken to the ER but it never gets old. Never.

3. We're Masters of Walking Over Gravel in Our Bare Feet

In the country, nobody really cares if you wear shoes. It's bare feet galore. The whole thing looks very similar to walking over hot coals, but there's this perverse obsession with developing feet of steel.

4. We're Driving By ATLEAST Age 12

The legal age to drive may be 16-years-old, but in the country you're already a master driver by then. Tractors, ATVs, dirt bikes, the mower--you name it we've probably already crashed it. Driving like a normal person is easy as pie by 16.

As kids, we'd watch car after car blow past us praying they'd pull a u-turn and come back to buy our $5 lemonade (with so little business, we were forced to significantly markup the product and 5 bucks seemed like a lot back then).

7. And We Have the Most Unique Pet Selection
