    Eastern Conference Finals Run

    By: Daveon Thompson

The first round of the Eastern NBA Playoffs are over and this year we are in for a spectacular round two. The Eastern conference teams are expected to do well. The first round matchups were gritty, dirty, and hard fought games. The entire league is making games more watchable by pitting great teams against each other every other day. This year had a number of series that were forced into game 7.

Kateira Mays, a Junior at Woodward High School, spoke on the topic of Lebron James. “You have no choice but to hate how good he is. If you aren’t a Cleveland fan, then your scared every time he gets the ball”.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers was the most watched series this year. Many had doubt of the Cavaliers making it to the second round after the first few games then he did what he does best: shocked the world. The Cavaliers had to pull it all together in game 7 and got the win. Also, Lebron James surpassed Michael Jordan in the record books as now having the most double digit game back to back.

The Philadelphia 76ers haven’t had playoff action since 2011-2012. So they were denying on going out in the first round. They faced the Miami Heat in a nice hot and gritty series. The young Rookie of Year nominee Ben Simmons and ‘The Process” Joel Embiid led Philadelphia to defeat the Heat in just 5 games only giving up 1 loss.

Boston Celtics faced off against the Milwaukee Bucks which also took 7 games to end. The boston Celtics lacked the super energized, fast paced offense the used to have because of recent injuries. Kyrie Irving was rule out the whole first round and Jaylen Brown has made appearances on the court in his uniform and some games on the bench with a suit on. The series ended in a nice blowout win for the Celtics.

And last, but not least, the Raptors faced of against the Wizards in a 6 game series the Raptors only managed to lose twice in games 3 and 4 and many thought of a comeback but John Wall and the wizards couldn’t pull it off losing the series and checking out early.
