Be Nice To People Who Handle Your Food

Working in fast food restaurants I've seen it all. You'd think that movies and TV shows are exaggerating when they show servers and cooks spitting in your food if you have to send it back to you but it isn't. Servers and cooks work in a gloomy kitchen and depending on where they work they probably hate the job but only stay there because it pays the bills. Due to the fact that they might already be miserable, having a customer or a guest complain about how much of a lousy cook the line guy or girl might be they may have a hard time swallowing that. (get it?!) Which is why I always stress to my friends and family to just take things the way they were given to you. I mean if the chicken still has feathers on it, or if the pork is still breathing then by all means, go for it send it back with guns a blazin’, otherwise “if it ain’t broke – don’t fix it.” Although many people may not agree with me, I'd just rather be safe than sorry. Only in situations where it is unacceptable I will send my food back but even then, I say it very nicely. 5 Tips I can suggest to guests while they are eating out are

1. Make sure you READ everything in a dish first before ordering it.

This is probably the most annoying thing to get, when someone is ordering food they don’t read everything and when they get the order they want a new dish minus something they didn’t realize was going to be on it. If you aren’t sure about what will come with it always ask the server to explain everything that is included with the dish, otherwise you might get some secret ingredient the next time it comes out!

2. Keep your table clean!

I personally thought cleaning up scraps that fell out of other people’s mouths wasn’t fun. I can only imagine what it feels like to consistently do it over and over for the night. Just attempting to keep your area clean makes them happy, simply putting the plates you aren't using in a corner stacked up makes things easier for them too. Avoid making spills if possible, and breaking any dishes. Making things complicated can become really irritating for them and create a rude or sassy mood from your waitress/waiter.

3. Tip your server!

Servers make less money than anyone else in the whole food industry. This is because they make a lot more money off of their tips. Have a good verbal interaction with your server and your make sure that you make their night/day and give them a nice tip.

4. Make their night fun!

Don’t be the boring guests that makes the server think you don’t need anything but just your food to get in and out. Servers and cooks are just like anyone else and to see others having fun isn’t the best feeling in the world. Try to brighten up their mood if possible during your visit.

5. Don’t send back your food and LOSE THE ‘TUDE!

It is always important to remember that other people are serving you. If you want your food to be done right I would strongly suggest that one should specify how you would like it cooked in the beginning when the order is being taken, in a nice way of course, or just take It. If you give your server an attitude or they feel as if they are being attacked in any way, always be aware that the message you left is relayed to the kitchen and to your plate.

At the end of the day it is wrong for the servers and cooks to do these things but its reality. The sad part is you can’t change the things that they do if you don’t know when they are doing it, but on the bright side, you can try to stop it.
