Located less than a half a mile from Evanston's campus, Chipotle is a staple in downtown Evanston. Also a staple on Northwestern's campus, students giving each other advice to help them thrive through their academics, extracurriculars, and everything else. So, it was only fair to combine the two in this quiz! Order at Chipotle and we'll give you a piece of advice a current NU student wished they were told before heading to campus for the first time!

"Don’t hold yourself to a strict vision of what you want your first year to be! So many things will turn out WAY different than you expected, so allow yourself wiggle room for all the wonderful things that will definitely come. Especially if it feels like everyone else is ~living their dream~ and you feel as if you’re miles away from it, remember that every single one of those people is experiencing their own battles too. You will make amazing memories in good time, I promise" - Sonia Punjabi, ‘21

Allow Yourself Wiggle Room

"It's fine to take a minute for yourself. Getting into this school, moving to a new place, meeting all these people you've never seen before - it's a lot! I had a real issue with saying no because I didn't want to miss out on anything but in the long run you can be totally burned out so something that I can't emphasize enough is to just take a minute away from all of this craziness when you can and centre yourself" - Jahan Sahni, ‘20

Take a Minute for Yourself

"Never stop doing what you love! It is important not to give in to the temptation to replace your favorite hobby with an activity that would "better" suit your resume, for you risk losing a possible source of stress relief. Trust me, there is more to life than a Linkedin profile! Be sure to search for clubs and student organizations that align with your passions, and if you cannot seem to find one, then start one because there are bound to be other students with a similar interest" - Kelly Miller, ‘22

Do What You Love

"I wish someone could've told me that it was ok not to do everything. My first year, I found myself constantly thinking that I needed to be involved in everything extracurricularly, meet everybody, and push myself to the limit academically. "It's okay to feel a little lost sometimes! It might seem like everyone has a ton of friends right away, but trust me, it's completely normal and way more common to not have it all figured out. It's Ok To Feel Lost

"I'm happy my advisor told me to take classes because of my interest in them and not only because of how they might fit in my curriculum. I started taking French for fun, just because I wanted to learn a new language, and now I'm majoring in it too. There was not a single quarter in which I hated all of my classes: there was always one that I really loved. You can have fun while having classes.
