Tomorrowland
Where: Boom, Belgium
Widely regarded as one of the most popular music festivals in the world, Tomorrowland was first held in 2005. With the success of Mysteryland in the Netherlands, Manu and Michiel Beers were looking to bring the same excitement by creating their own music festival in Belgium. Thus, Tomorrowland was born. As you can see in the above image, this festival started from humble beginnings. In 2005, the festival was only one day and had about 10,000 attendees. That was a far cry from the 180,000 people that attended the festival in 2016, with tickets selling out in less than an hour—and this is without even knowing what the lineup is going to be. What has brought Tomorrowland so much growth and success in its short history has been its ability to be unique and its strong lineup of DJ’s. Even in its first year, artists such as Armin Van Buuren and Ferry Costen performed on the mainstage. This has continued every year since, with it now being a who’s who of artists in the EDM genre. Tomorrowland also does an amazing job at covering all sub-genres. Not a big fan of mainstream artists such as Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike or Tiesto? No a problem. In 2016, Tomorrowland created a total of 30 stages and covered everything from trance to trap to hardstyle. Tomorrowland has something for everyone.
Tomorrowland is not just about the music either. Art plays a large part in the festival as well. Each year a theme is chosen, and each stage is elaborately built and has its own flair. There is also a backstory created and told over the three day festival, with last years being called “The Elixir of Life.”

Electric Daisy Carnival
Where: Las Vegas, Nevada
Through the use of copious stages, thrilling rides, and performances that will be remembered for a lifetime, the Electric Daisy Carnival is an experience that every music festival lover should attend. The festival takes place over multiple days with an attendance that can easily top 300,000 people. Tickets typically range anywhere from $200-$300 when bought through the festival site. Nature plays a key role in the atmosphere of this festival. Attendees can expect to travel through brightly lit fields and be surrounded by colorful gardens. Whether you want to connect with nature through music influenced by love and art, or dance all night to the hottest djs, EDC has a stage for everyone. Popular artists Martin Garrix, The Chainsmokers, and Zedd preformed at the festival in 2016, marking its 20th anniversary. This year the event will take place from June 16th through June 18th. Ultra Music Festival
Where: Miami, Florida
Ultra Music Festival is an outdoor electronic music festival that takes place annually in the month of March in the city of Miami, Florida. Ultra Music Festival is stationed in Downtown Miami at Bayfront Park. When the festival first began in 1999, it was a one-day festival where all performers were viewed on the same day. In 2007, the festival grew into a two-day weekend event in which tickets could be purchased to see different performers on each day. The expansion from a beachfront location to Bayfront Park allowed the festival to host much larger crowds which in turn sparked more interest from high end performers. The Bayfront area created the possibility to have multiple DJ tents across the park which now gives listeners the ability to navigate through the large venue while listening to multiple different types of music. Ultra’s popularity has only been increasing, and its international appeal has led this event to be one of the most prevalent music festivals in the world. In 2002, their lineup ballooned to 200 performers including headliners from Crystal Method, Paul Oakenfold, and Tiesto. In 2016, Ultra hosted over 300 performers including two of the most popular electronic artists on the market DJ Snake and Martin Garrix. With March of 2017 fast approaching, the committee is still in the process of finalizing the lineup for what could be the most iconic Ultra Festival yet. It has been seen that the festival’s attendance numbers have increased every year, and it is only logical to believe that this year will be no different.
