The Sansevieria, Trifasciata, or snake plant, is able to withstand most environments, but prefers moderate water and sunlight. Its roots (no pun intended), come from West Africa and Asia.

The Calathea plant is one of the best low maintenance houseplants, as it prefers low or indirect sunlight and little water. Some of its other names include peacock plant, rattlesnake plant, and zebra plant.

The Peace Lily is a great floor plant, that only requires medium light and weekly watering. It purifies the air and decreases the amount of mold spores in a room.
