Why K-Pop Should Be Your Favourite Pop

If you aren't already on the K-pop train, maybe these 7 reasons will make you hop on board!

1. First things first: K-pop is for everybody.

No, K-pop isn't just for Koreans, or just for Asians. Many K-pop bands have huge international fan bases and tour across the world. Band members come from across North America and Southeast Asia in addition to East Asia. The community is also gr8 and inclusive (except for haters. Nobody likes haters.).

2. Get some Asians in your media!

With the sore lack of Asian faces in Western media, many of us turn to K-pop and similar music genres. Same thing can be said for K-dramas, which can only be described as even more melodramatic Days of Our Lives. Seriously, grab the tissues and have yourself a Sadturday binge-watching this stuff.

3. The music variety!

Not all K-pop boy bands and girl groups produce bubblegum pop (though there is nothing wrong with that!). Some groups have turned to edgier, rock-like sounds while others go full-on crazy with their over-the-top music and dances.

K-pop trainees can sometimes train for years before debuting, so you know they've perfected their entire-body coordination

Although many K-pop bands like to focus their lyrics on puppy love and typical boy band/girl group themes, some have branched out and have begun taking on heavier issues like mental health, failed relationships, and even criticizing the notoriously strict K-pop idol business.

6. The FASHUN.

K-pop is an entire style unto itself. Gender roles have no place in K-pop. Boy bands and girl groups alike have elaborately dyed hair, makeup, outfits and accessories to create their iconic K-pop style.

7. Finally, the community
