A leisurely 90 minute ferry ride away, Rottnest Island/Wadjemup is the perfect day-trip from Perth/Boorloo. You might not recognise the name, but you'll almost certainly recognise the quokkas that call the island home. Once you've gotten your obligatory quokka selfie, explore all the other pursuits the island has to offer. 

Strap on your helmet for a ride around the island and be sure to indulge in a swim in the pristine waters of WA.

Don't forget to pay a visit to Wadjemup Lighthouse too — it's rich in history as Western Australia's first stone lighthouse.

3. Because WA is so vast, you'll save so much time flying to your next stop — to the stunning coastal town of Broome/Rubibi.

The largest town in the Kimberley and famously a pearling town, the waters of Broome/Rubibi call for another boat ride. It's the perfect place to catch the sunset, with undisturbed vistas for days — and if you time it right, you could be in for a whale sighting too.

There's also always the option of a sunset camel ride along the beach, for a quintessentially Broome/Rubibi experience.

4. After a well-deserved night of R&R, take in iconic Cable Beach/Walmanyjun by day.

Before you say goodbye to Broome/Rubibi, be sure to stop by Gantheaume Point — where you can catch a glimpse of fossilised dinosaur footprints at low tide.

5. Wake up refreshed and jump on a short flight to Kununurra/Goonoonoorrang — and be transported to a destination that feels world's away.

Kununurra/Goonoonoorrang is the gateway to the stunning Kimberley region and a must-visit if you want to experience all the gems hidden in WA.

Spanning almost a million acres, El Questro is known as the heart of the Kimberley for a reason. It houses everything that you could ever hope to experience in the region — from rainforests to thermal springs to sprawling ranges, mud and salt-flats and waterfalls for days.
