1. Do a little detective work and find some free moving boxes.

Many recycling centers and even some grocery stores will give you old boxes you can use to pack your stuff. If you're in NYC, head to your local bodega and ask if they have any extra boxes to spare. This will save you some $$$, and you'll also reduce garbage when you reuse. It's a win-win!

2. Another clever way to save money on packing materials and reduce waste is to wrap fragile items in clothing.
