If you've heard the hype about Clinique's Black Honey Almost lipstick you'll probably already know why it's so sought-after, but why don't we just take you through the basics one more time?
It's been one of Clinique’s firmest customer favourites since it was launched in 1971! The brand describes it as “a perfectly calibrated blend of blue, red, and yellow pigments in a creamy, balmy base” – sounds dreamy. The blend of pigments supposedly looks unique but equally incredible on any skin tone, and it looks great worn alone or on top of a lip liner.
The first time I heard about Clinique’s Black Honey Almost lipstick was via the TikTok trend for pairing it with Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk lip liner. Now, Pillow Talk has been my ride or die for years, so my ears definitely pricked up at the idea of a famously complementary product.
Of course I had to try it out for myself! First of all, I tested it on its own without makeup and I’ll jump straight to the point: I absolutely LOVE this stuff!
While the deep shade of the bullet might look like it’d create a dark, statement lip, it actually looked really natural on my makeup-free face. In fact, the colour was unlike anything I’d ever tried before!
Of course I had to try it on over my favourite Pillow Talk lip liner, and it didn’t disappoint here, either.
Overall, I can honestly say I think it lives up to the hype. It’s the closest I’ve ever found to a ‘my lips but better’ shade, and I am officially obsessed. I’ve already bought a couple more Black Honey lipsticks as back ups (as I know it tends to sell out super quickly!), and I can see this being a product I'll repurchase time and time again.
