10 (kind Of) Things British Students Do Over Christmas Break

So that loan is drying up and you are counting the days until you can go home for some of your nan's famous roast dinner. We have all been there...but what are the most common signs of British students' Christmas break?

1. That sad goodbye to your flat mates

You may have only met them 3 months ago but saying goodbye to them for 2 weeks is nearly as sad as Harry Potter waving goodbye to Hagrid in the first Harry Potter.

We all end up messaging our BFF's all break any way but that goodbye is always a tough one...*tears start emerging*

2. You arrive home to realise you are basically Scrooge

You run through those joyous doors ready for the relief of heating and free food but then you slowly realise why you moved away in the first place.

The non-stop playing of Christmas songs slowly drives you insane to the point where Mariah Carey starts sounding like family.

3. Being at home means...HOME COOKING!

You have basically been living off baked beans and pesto pasta for the past six weeks but now you are home your parents are forcing food you more food than a Chinese buffet.

Not that you are complaining...

4. Erm...Christmas Presents? With what money?

Students are probably the most poorest people in the country, I mean they pay £9,000 a year and don't even get free food with that! (WHY NOT...I know right!)

So when your Auntie turns to you and asks why you haven't got any of the children in the family a present, you just turn and smile.

Don't worry we know...you already are a gift to them, you amazing human!

5. You now basically have six essay's to do before New Year's

Christmas has been amazing, Boxing Day was full of food and drink. It is now the 27th and you go to check your emails to realise that you haven't started any of the essay's due for the first day back.

'BUT IT'S CHRISTMAS!' I hear you say, well you should have done them before you left! (Not that we ever did either)

7. You are just so busy from all the friends who want to see you again (apparently)
