A Complete Summary Of Off-Campus Housing Near UCSD!!!

What to eat and where to live are two major questions for all humans, and it is again the season to decide and look for HOUSING for next academic year! Lazy and procrastinating? Yes we all are. Outreach Coordinators is here to reveal people's true words to you by surveying students and summarizing 17 (!!!) communities around UCSD! Take a look and come to our off-campus housing workshop in Week 8!

1. Torrey Hills

* Best Part: All the amenities are new and it's a really nice community

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Bugs =_=

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $650/month

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: How to cook!

2. Park Place

* Best Part: Proximity to campus!

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Nothing :D

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $710/month

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: On-campus resources available to commuters.

3. Regents La Jolla

Person One:

* Best Part: It's super close to campus, has tons of bus stops and foods nearby

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Better roommates :(

* How much do you pay: $410 +/- $10

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: You lose a lot of time traveling back and forth traveling from school to home, and you need to make sure you have everything with you before you leave

Person Two:

* Best Part: So many accommodations

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: The restrictions

* How much do you pay: $1200

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: Privacy and parking space. As well as just freedom.

4. La Jolla International Garden

* Best Part: Access to nearby groceries, mall, and theater

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Thicker walls to contain sound

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $850/month

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: Start looking for places early!!!

5. Sunset Glen in Mira Mesa (House)

* Best Part: It is a HOUSE after all :P

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: MORE PARKING

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $400/month

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: Commuting is a pain!

6. La Jolla Crossroads

* Best Part: The Storage Space is HUGE!

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: The electric stove....

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $520/ month

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: How much your life changes when you have to commute......

7. Genesee Highlands

First Person:

* Best Part: More space for less money (-$)

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Quality of construction

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $750 + $40-60utilities

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: Landlords are a pain.....

Second Person:

* Best Part: Having my own room

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Utilities are EXPENSIVE!

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): Double $500, Utilities are $50/month

* ((Editor: Hmmmm $50 Utilities is indeed kinda a lot! :O))

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: DO NOT try to drive to campus. Parking is impossible. But the bus commute isn't bad~

8. Playmor (House)

Person One:

* Best Part: It's by the pool & I get my own room

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Cleaner Kitchen

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $698+50 utilities/ month

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: Bus, is always PACKED!

Person Two:

* Best Part: Single Room Hehe

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Everything. It's really out of date...

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $780

* One thing you wish had known before moving off campus: Transportation is difficult

9. Villas of Renaissance

First Person:

* Best Part: It's really quite, peaceful, and pretty (awwww)

* One thing you wish could change about the apartment: The distance from campus

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $730+50 for a single

((Editor: Yes! you are the first one who clarify what kind of room you are paying!))

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: You will end up staying on campus for more than 12 hours some times!

Second Person:

* Best Part: The shuttle to campus/amenities---pools, movie, theatre, game room

* One thing you wish could change about the apartment: Making it a nonsmoking apt complex, and live on the top floor so no one is above me making noise....

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): N/A

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: That parking is INSANE on campus!

10. La Jolla Mesa Estates

* Best Part: It's a townhouse so it not too big or too small

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Bigger bedrooms!

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $600

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: Commuting takes time!

11. Costa Verde

Person One:

* Best Part: Size, amenities, proximity to bus stop!

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: More parking

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): ~$610

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: How to pack lunch LOL

Person Two: Costa Verde Towers!

* Best Part: Very friendly high quality service, good security and free gym classes!

* One thing you wish could change about the apartment: So expensive

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $700 for a double

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: N/A BLANK.....

12. University City (House)

* Best Part: Cheap Rent

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Convenient Access to schoooooolll

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $675

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: Transportation issues

13. Pines of La Jolla

* Best Part: Hot Tub

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: My Roomie =_=

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): Around $600

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: Bus Rush Times

14. La Regencia

Person One:

* Best Part: High Ceilings, LARGE living room

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Better parking garage & more available parking

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $650

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: The commute time

Person Two:

* Best Part: The spacious apartment layout and super convenient location by bus stops and Vons and freeway

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: The parking fees

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): N/A

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: That the buses are more convenient and efficient than you think

15. University Woods (House)

* Best Part: Not having an RA lol

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Wish it was cheaper :(

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): Split between 5 total rent+utilities: $3000

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: Parking still sucks

16. Canyon Park

* Best Part: I'm not homeless YAYYY

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: Expensive

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): $530

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: How expensive it would be

17. La Jolla Palms

* Best Part: Great customer service and bus stop is right outside

* One thing you wish you could change about the apartment: The cost is a bit steep and the gym could be bigger

* How much do you pay (rent+utilities): ~715 per month for a double

* One thing you wish you had known before moving off campus: Remember you pay for water - take short showers!!
