Which resource would you most like to see added to your campus?

Does your campus have childcare for students with Dependents?

Does your campus have transfer student leaders in all major decision making spaces?

Does your campus have partnerships with local community colleges?

Do transfer students on your campus feel at home on campus?

Do you have academic support resources specifically for Transfer Students?

Do you know where to find data about your current Transfer Student population?

Can you name at least 2 scholarships that are specifically for Transfer Students on your campus?

Would you describe your Transfer population as more diverse than your direct entry students?

You need to work on demonstrating that Transfer students are a high institutional priority! Some elements that could help demonstrate this are: 

- dedicated space on campus for Transfer Students 

- staff that are focused exclusively on transfer support 

- transfer students & alumni in decision making roles for your campus

High Institutional Priority

You need to work on your outreach to community college students to create a clear commitment to the transfer process. Work on your partnerships with your local community colleges & see how you can help create clear pathways for Transferring to your institution. Some elements that could help demonstrate this are: 

- mentorship programs for Community College students to connect with current transfers & support them in their application & transfer journey

- connections with admissions representatives to go over eligibility requirements for Transfer 

- Cross enrollment opportunities for folks to take 4 year institution course for credit while at community college

Transfer Specific Outreach

Better get out those checkbooks, it looks like you need to work on your financial & academic support systems. Think through how you can encourage your transfer students to achieve a high level of academic support & graduation rates by offering transfer specific academic support services &/or financial aid. Some ideas to get you started: 

- transfer specific scholarships to help with the cost of tuition, fees & living expenses
- financial support systems for students with dependents 

- budgeting & financial literacy workshops that center a transfer timeline at your institution

- student staff positions that are available for Transfers & hired in a timeline that supports hiring incoming transfer students seeking work study roles

Academic & Financial Support

Now is the time to show your dedication to the transfer pathway by demonstrating support for family & community support our transfers bring with them.  We know that you care deeply about access to higher education & it's ability to ripples in change for families & communities, show that by considering these possibilities: 

- priority enrollment for students with dependents

- family friendly orientation programs

- food pantries that are open to family & community members 

- hiring workshops for campus roles that partners or family could apply to

Family & Community Support

It's time to brush up on your stats skills & pour some love into your research & assessment of your Transfer Community. Research is a way to tell your story that can create change & support resource prioritization for your community.  This is your call to create frameworks to assess, evaluate & enhance your transfer programs & lead to improved Transfer experiences & scholarship on your campus. Ideas to get you going:
 
- campus climate surveys of Transfers to assess sense of belonging & impression of Transfer receptivity on your campus

- student lead research teams exploring 1 or more parts of the Transfer community on your campus

- a dedicated research area focused on annual assessment of your transfer community & it's needs

Research & Assessment

Surprise! 
Your result is not one of the 5 pillars of Transfer Receptive Culture but instead a call to consider the Racial Climate on your campus.  The Transfer pathways is both intersectional & highly diverse.  With Transfers comes an increase in diversity on your campus but is your campus ready include these students? Some ideas to consider as you think about how inclusive your campus is to supportive a diverse & inclusive community: 

- offer dedicated centers & spaces for a wide range of student identities. Having a space where students can see themselves reflected on campus can be powerful

- look at campus climate survey's & see what identities are finding your campus challenging to be on

- consider how whiteness is centered in your campus traditions, activities & spaces
