Rad Art-Watch: Marco Brambilla's "Civilization"

The video installation is currently playing on a non-stop loop in the elevators of The Standard Hotel in New York, New York. Commissioned by the hotel, the piece is supposed to symbolize the journey from hell to heaven and back again - hence the nonstop loop.

Cleveland’s Birds Take Home Field Advantage Very Seriously

Here’s a fun one for the sports fans out there: Last week during a divisional tilt between the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals, the game was tied going into the bottom of the 10th inning. With the winning run at second base, the Indians needed a double to head home with a victory. Shin-Soo Choo hit a weak single to center, a playable ball for center fielder and breakfast cereal Coco Crisp that, as long as he kept it in front of him, would allow the winning run to only get to third base, still giving the Royals a chance to eek out a victory.

UFC 99

UFC fans may have been disappointed after watching UFC 99 this past Saturday. Unlike the previous weekends televised MMA events, which were filled with stunning knockouts and slick submissions, this main card saw many very close wars go to a decision. On paper the card looked like it was tailor made for exciting finishes and cheesy tag lines like “don’t blink during this one.” So was not the case, but I was in no way disappointed. Rarely do I watch an event that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I love a good fight! However, while the fights were exciting, I walked away feeling that I had more questions then I did before I started watching. Let’s start at the beginning…
