Cheetah

It may not look it from the picture, but the cheetah is the fastest land mammal on the planet. Of course catching it in moments of a big yawn than at full speed is definitely easier!

Barbary Sheep

Horns not to be messed with! This goat-antelope is found in North Africa and can tackle the rough terrains without any problem at all.

Reticulated Giraffe

Here’s an animal that really knows to stand out amongst the crowd! Fun fact: their spots are like fingerprints and no two giraffes are alike. These creatures are easily spotted on wildlife drives organised by such resorts as Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts.

Ethiopian Hedgehog

Found only on Sir Bani Yas Island, this native hedgehog species is certainly cute but not so easy to spot since it is nocturnal in nature and keeps to itself.

Schokari Sand Racer

Considered the Middle East’s speediest snake, this very swift species can go up to 16 km/h. The good news is they are not venomous to us humans!

Arabian Oryx

Saved from the brink of complete extinction, this Oryx species is certainly one of the highlights at the park. The smallest species of Oryx, they can be observed on a wildlife safari planned by Abu Dhabi resorts on the island.

Caracal

The desert lynx aka the caracal is certainly one of the most striking of wild cats and have also been part of ancient Egyptian culture. Its pointy, long ears sure give those of Spock a run for their money!
