I am a Vowel, a curiously named French Native, delivers the next release on the house slackers official outlet, Coriolis Sounds. The EP (out 21st June) nods towards an intelligently arranged minimal sound. Coriolis is a spot that does music for all the right reasons, taking their time, but delivering quality at the end of the day purely for the love of sound. Now living in London, we decided to ask I am a Vowel to discuss her favourite spots in between producing and living the artist life from her home country...

Cave of Lascaux

'Cave of Lascaux in Dordogne-Périguor in southwestern France houses the most spectacular collection of Ice Age wall art yet found. It’s a really impressive place which contains around 2000 paintings and engravings dating around 15000 BC. You can’t visit the real cave anymore (i’ve been lucky enough to visit before is closure) but a facsimile is Lascaux II.'

The Gorges of the Ardèche

'Known as the “European Grand Canyon”, it's a series of gorges in the river Ardèche. That’s the place i use to go for swimming during childhood.

It can be very busy during summer at some points, but it’s a wild and warm place for those who intend to escape from the beaten track.'

Chamonix

'It's in the Alps at the base of the Mont-Blanc (highest peak of the Alps). A “high-mountain town” perfect for skiing during winter and hikes in summer. I love this place for his international and relaxed atmosphere and for its proximity with a grandiose nature.'

Arles in Bouches-du-Rhône

'An old town in the South of France. This place is 2500 years old and full of old monuments. Van Gogh was living there and has made some famous paintings of the place. It’s nice to get lost in the little streets, and stop on one of the several little places to have a drink at an outdoor cafe. During summer the town hosted an annual summer photography festival: The Rencontres d'Arles.'

Étretat

'Étretat in Normandie is a town surrounded by wind carved cliff situated at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. This beautiful scenery drew Impressionist painters aplenty. The mood of the town is quite charming with plenty of nice restaurants and adorable hotels. Here I tasted the best salted butter caramel crepe ever! I use to go there when i was living in Paris when we needed to quickly escape the noise and fury of the capital.'
