Hyper-pigmentation is the darkening of an area of skin caused by the increase of melanin. Melanin is normally a glorious thing, but when it clusters in one area it causes dark spots and an uneven skin tone.

There are a few things that cause hyper-pigmentation, including...

- Overexposure to the sun. (As this causes melanin production to increase.)

- Pregnancy (Hormonal changes during pregnancy stimulates a temporary increase in your body's production of melanin.)

- Picking at your skin. (One of the ways your body responds to injury or inflammation is by overproducing melanin.)

Although every one can get hyper-pigmentation it is more common in darker skin tones, again because of the melanin.

It works impressively fast, and you will see the results quickly. Eucerin also have moisturisers in the same range if you want to speed up the process further.
