    4 Michigan Cities To Visit On Your Spring Break Staycation

    Michigan is full of cities perfect for a quick getaway. From beaches and waterparks to cityscapes, the Mitten state has it all.

    1. Detroit

    Detroit

    Detroit is the perfect destination for those looking for a night on the town. While there are many reasons to visit the city, Detroit was recently ranked as best pizza city in the US by Any Time Estimate, making it the perfect place to catch dinner and a show. After eating at one of Detroit’s many pizzerias such as Cloverleaf or PizzaPlex, a touring Broadway show can be seen at the historic Fox or Fischer theaters. Day trippers can end the night with a walk along Detroit's river front looking over the Detroit River and Windsor.

    2. Frankenmuth

    Frankenmuth is known for its iconic Bavarian influences in everything from the food to the architecture and décor. Michigan’s “Little Bavaria” is famous for its chicken dinners that poultry lovers can get at Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth. According to the Zehnder’s website, they been serving the community for over 150 years. Those looking to get their splash can head to the attached Zehnder’s Splash Village or to the Bavarian Inn Lodge for an indoor waterpark that features 2 water slides, in addition to an arcade and minigolf.

    3. Traverse City

    The Traverse City area is home to the famous Sleeping Bear Dunes, a 64 mile national park full of beaches trails, and forested islands along the shoreline. After a day of exploring, travelers can stop at one of the 40 wineries located along the Traverse Wine Coast. According to MLive, Traverse City wineries took home more than 82 awards at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, an internationally renowned contest.

    4. Grand Rapids

    Grand Rapids is another destination for the city lover along lots of options for outdoor adventurers as well. In addition to fishing and hiking, Grand Rapids is also known for its mountain bike trails such Kent Trails just under 2 miles from downtown. The city is also home to many famous museums and art displays such as the Fredrik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, La Grande Vitesse and the Grand Rapids Art Museum. In 2020 Grand Rapids was named the Best Beer Scene by USA Today making it the perfect place to raise a glass after a long day of exploring.
