Creative alternative to renting
Previously a fruit & veg van, Hannah and her partner Gabriel bought it and began fitting it out more than 3 years ago. When they began their project Hannah confessed they knew nothing about vans, however by now they are a dab hand at fixing pretty much anything - they just replaced the starter motor themselves.
For the fit-out they sourced materials second hand; the kitchen side was a cabinet of her moms, the sink and stove came from eBay, and the wood burner was bought from a friend for £70.
Hannah and her partner live in the van full-time with their dog Rosie, however Gabriel works away on a sailing boat for periods of time.
Hannah is currently in her first year of university studying Marine Biology, and has found it surprisingly easy to live out of her van within the confines of a city.
The outdoors are easier to access from a small space, and Hannah makes the most out of her home on wheels by surfing, running, hiking, and practicing Yoga. A shoulder injury a few years ago lead her to yoga, which she is now fully qualified to teach and does so alongside her studies.
