Top 10 Deaths In 9th Grade Literature

Project for my final exam at Lakeside High School. not necessarily in order of least to best, but just in order of which I thought of them, except for number 1. Please don't take off any points for that, Mrs. Hoyne.

10. Fortunato

Okay, Fortunato's death is quite an embarrassing way to die. He gets drunk, and Montresor leads him into a cemetery where Fortunato believes Montresor has a pipe of vintage amontillado. There, Fortunato lets Montresor chain him to a wall and watches as he is slowly hidden by bricks that Montresor is stacking on top of one another. Like, really? You're so drunk that you watch someone cover up your only way out of the underground cemetery? Just sad, Fortunato. Nevertheless, RIP.

9. Argos

I don't know why, but some people forget about the lesser known characters. Like, Argos waits 20 years for Odysseus to come back, and when he does, Odysseus can't even pet him, as that would ruin his cover. That's so sad! Just imagine seeing your long lost friend, but he can't come up to you and say hi, as he actually isn't supposed to be here. That's probably what Argos felt like.

Okay, shooting someone 17 times. Talk about overkill. I mean, give the poor man a break. He's accused of raping a white woman, goes to another prison, escapes, then gets shot 17 times to "wound him?!?!" B*tch, please. That's not wounding someone, that's freaking killing him! You don't shoot someone 17 times and say, "I only wanted to wound him so he couldn't escape." Fine, it did work. He couldn't escape. But that was because he's DEAD. Dead people can't just get up and walk around like The Walking Dead.

Talk about a way to die. You're basically blind, you're holding a shell, you're yelling at Jack, and suddenly, thump! Crack! You're hit with a boulder that was rolled down the cliff, hits you, sends you flying towards the ocean, hit your head against a rock and have your brain and blood come out of your head. Damn, RIP.

6. Mrs. Hutchinson

Stoned to death. Not "stoned", like when you use marijuana, stoned as in people throw stones at you and kill you. Harsh, and not really a good victory prize for winning a lottery.

4. Doodle

Ditched by his brother in fear of a thunderstorm, Doodle is found dead in the same pose as the scarlet ibis that died. Left behind by a brother that you loved, must be a very bad way to die.

3. Lady Capulet

I honestly feel like Lady Capulet isn't well respected when she dies. I mean, Lord Capulet goes up to Juliet and is like, "Oh yeah, your mom died," and Juliet's just like, "Oh, okay." Wow, talk about being "respected" in your family.

2. The Birthmark Boy

Probably one of the saddest deaths. No one knows his name and he dies in the wilderness, alone, with the Beastie roaming around. All anyone knows is that he has a birthmark. RIP.
