Lunuganga Estate was the countryside residence of the famous Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. If you are in Bentota - this little piece of heaven will be a MUST-VISIT.

Perched on five acres of land, this lakeside garden estate is located in Bentota which is a 35 km drive from hotels such as the Mermaid Hotel & Club. Used as the countryside estate of Late Geoffrey Bawa, the plot of land went through a period of transformation during Dutch and British era, from time to time.

Geoffery Bawa was an architect and writer who contributed immensely to the local industry. This estate was a masterpiece which was developed carefully for almost 15 years. Considered to be his country home Lunuganga is one of the most famous of his works.

The estate is rich in lush vegetation, with a collection of tropical plants and trees which amalgamates with the stunning views of the Bentota Lake. Interiors of this properly have been tastefully done and have been wonderfully crafted with creative thoughts.

Lunuganga estate is a great place to spend an afternoon lazing in the garden yard. An entrance fee of 1500 rupees will be charged (maybe a little more) with other facilities such as boat rides guides. If you are planning on visiting this garden for a chilled out dining session, it's always ideal to call before hand to reserve your space.
