The other day, I was reading the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba manga, and I finally realized why Sanemi Shinazugawa has a huge hatred for demons.
Since his debut of the show, most people know that Sanemi hates two things: Genya, his little brother, and demons. In Episode 22, MASTER OF THE MANSION, we can clearly see that Sanemi hates Nezuko Kamado because she is a demon. In the picture above, we can even see him stabbing her. Despite smiling at Nezuko near the end of Book 23, Sanemi hates on her.
So, why does Sanemi hate demons so much?
ANSWER: Because of his tragic backstory
When Sanemi was a kid, his mother returned from work one day as a demon. She killed all of his siblings except Genya. Sanemi ended up killing his mother, much to Genya's dismay. When Genya discovered his mother's crumbling body, he starts sobbing and yells "MURDERER!!!" at Sanemi.
But that's not the end. People who look at the GIF above can see that Sanemi has normal eyes. Look at the photo below:
Do you notice anything? Sanemi's eyes have changed. I recently discovered that he was colorblind, and lots of his scars are from the demon attack as a child. The scar on his face probably developed after being attacked by his demon mother.
