These Cute And Comfy Sneakers Actually Made Me Give Up Flats

I may be only 5 feet tall, but I can't stand high heels and I assiduously refuse to accept them as a form of footwear.

I value foot comfort above all else, and anyway, I firmly believe that you're only as tall as you feel. So, for many years, I was a steadfast flats person: I owned flats of all colors and materials and toe boxes and wore them until I scraped the soles thin.

Until recently, that is. Within the past two years, I've transitioned from flats to cute, non-athletic sneakers. The only problem is finding everyday sneakers that are as stylish as a good flat is.

Which is why when I found out that Keds had partnered with Rifle Paper Co. to create a line of their classic shoes with stunning floral patterns, I wasted no time ordering a pair in this motif for $60.

Keds

Rifle Paper Co. makes gorgeous stationery, wall art, phone cases, and more in the loveliest designs and patterns. Normally, I'd balk at that price point for a non-athletic pair of sneakers, but they are basically a work of art on your feet, so I went for it.

There are a handful of styles (including slides and high-tops) and patterns, but I picked the Queen Anne Kickstart because nothing says "me in 2017" like light pink with gold detailing.

They're pretty much the most beautiful sneakers I've ever seen; they're like a classic white shoe, but with a little extra somethin' (and no, that extra somethin' isn't the smudge on the front from when I was skipping around with joy the first day I wore them). They look exactly the same in person as they do in pictures — stylish, adorable, and versatile — and I was so happy that I could just as easily wear them with a dress as I could with jeans. That's the other thing that makes the price feel totally okay for me; I can basically get double use out of them.

Plus, they came in the most beautiful shoebox I've ever seen. Look at it!!!

The reviews said the shoes run true to size, so I ordered them in my size, a 6.5. Luckily, the reviews were right — and they fit like a dream, even on my slightly wider-than-average feet. They also come with an extra set of laces!

I may have ordered them because they're cute, but I quickly discovered that they're also comfortable as hell.

Look, most sneakers are clustered somewhat close together on the comfort spectrum, but these were such a pleasant surprise. I hadn't worn a pair of Keds since I was, oh, 4 years old, and now I get why the company has been around for a century. It's because wearing their shoes is like stepping on a bed of fresh marshmallows! These have an Ortholite insole for extra squishiness, and oh my god, I want that in all of my shoes from now on.

I've tromped miles around the island of Manhattan in them with zero foot pain, and looked good doing it, if I do say so myself. These are such a miracle that I slipped them on without socks to run errands one time and I didn't get a single blister. Witchcraft!!!!

In fact, they're so comfy and great that I ended up ordering a second pair from the collection that are equally as dreamy.

I still wear flats from time to time (mostly when I run out of clean socks), but these bad boys have solidified my belief that a cute pair of sneakers are the footwear backbone of a wardrobe. Get them from Keds for $60.
