Taylor Swift Is Fighting For Herself -- And The Greater Good Of Women
Taylor Swift has recently entered a court battle with radio DJ David Mueller, following allegations of sexual assault.

Taylor Swift has been laying low and out of the public for the past few months, even going as far to pull a hood over her face during paparazzi encounters instead of allowing a pap to snap a candid in which Swift is notorious for looking like a model without trying. However, despite her mostly-successful attempt to stay private for now, news follows Swift wherever she goes. This morning, news that Swift will be fighting radio DJ David Mueller in court broke, and fans immediately rushed to defend their beloved idol.
Back in 2013, it was reported that Mueller reached under Swift’s skirt to grope her at the Pepsi Center in Denver. This report caused Mueller to lose his job with KYGO, and to retaliate by suing Swift, claiming that her accusation had caused him to lose his job and any future employment opportunities. However, Swift did not settle. Instead, she fired back by suing Mueller, insisting that she has photo evidence of Mueller’s assault on her. Since then, the case has been fairly stagnant in the news, but as Swift’s court date approaches, the internet is abuzz with rumors.
Perhaps one of the most important things to take away from this case, in addition to Swift’s safety and justice in a horrible situation, is the message that Swift’s persistent fight will undoubtedly send to girls across the world. If Taylor Swift, arguably the world’s biggest female musician and businesswoman, can publicly fight for her rights in a sexual assault situation, then perhaps all girls can fight for their rights. There’s no doubt that the sexual assault statistics are disgustingly and terrifyingly high in females, and in an era where someone as sexist and disgusting as Donald Trump is President of the United States, every girl needs a little extra support; someone saying “it’s okay to use your voice, you are not wrong.”
We all hope that Taylor wins her case, and I thank her for her strength and bravery during a difficult time.
