8 Things I Can't Wait To Do When It's Safe Again

Looking forward to things is what keeps us going.

    Seeing Friends Regularly

Even though I try to see friends when I can, it's a lot harder to see each other as much as we'd like while following all the safety guidelines. It's definitely hard to see everyone at once, it's typically been two or three of us hanging out for short periods of time. I've gotten pretty used to it by now, but I'm definitely looking forward to when we can all be together as much as we want again.

    Movie Theater

Movie theaters! The smell of the popcorn as soon as you walk through the door, the snacks, the big screen, the previews. For a while, my friends and I went every other week. It was one of the only things to do around us, and it was fun. I even have a collection of movie tickets from over the years. But COVID has made it pretty impossible to go to a movie theater safely, so I'm looking forward to that being one of the first things I do when it's safe again.

    Cafes!

Coffee at home is great, but it's even better when I can sit in a cafe! Fancy lattes by my side as I write, sometimes by myself and other times with friends. I miss that feeling. It was the perfect environment to get work done while also enjoying myself. While some cafes are open, it's still considered pretty dangerous to go anywhere outside of your house and sit inside for a prolonged amount of time.

    Road Trips

I don't even want to travel far, but leaving the state would be nice! I had grown used to visiting Philly and New York City. I haven't been able to cross the border of my state line in almost a year now. I was definitely taking my travel for granted before, but it won't happen again!

    Living on Campus

One of the biggest things I miss is living on campus while in college. For the first time I was living on my own, able to do whatever I wanted. Just as I was growing used to this freedom, I was sent back home. I know there are much worse problems, but I'm looking forward to moving back someday.

    Meeting New People

The thought of meeting new people used to be terrifying to me, I've never been good at it. Now, I'm genuinely looking forward to a time when I can meet a stranger and shake their hand. Maybe even have a conversation without masks. Oh, what a time it will be.

    Seeing Family

I've been lucky enough to be able to see some family during the pandemic, but we haven't been able to gather as frequently or with as many people as we'd like. Thanksgiving was a little sad, so I'm hoping by next year there won't be a limit to how many people I can see during the holidays without putting them in danger.

    Large Gatherings

I've never been one for huge parties, but I think we're all a little socially deprived right now. As soon as it is safe again, I'm looking forward to attending events with large groups again. Even just a smaller gathering with my friends would be nice. The sense of community has been somewhat lost since everyone is quarantining, and I'm so excited to see everyone when it is safe again.
