10 Characters Who Have Gone Through Way Too Much

Don't you hate it when you see your favourite character go through so much hell? We all do. There are a lot of characters who have gone through hell throughout the series, so here are the 10 characters who couldn't catch a break. SPOILER ALERT AND TRIGGER WARNINGS.

1. Elliot Alderson - Mr. Robot

Most characters in this series has gone through a lot, but this hacker extraordinaire has had a fair share of trauma and near death experiences his whole life. His journey of saving the world wasn't an easy one. First he loses everyone he loves to the Dark Army, he gets beaten up, kidnapped, shot, almost raped, abused by everyone in different ways, dealt with multiple mental illnesses and almost got killed several times. But one of the most remarkable things about him is that despite all the pain and trauma he's been through, it doesn't let him be put down and keeps going to take down the ones who played God without permission.

2. Jesse Pinkman - Breaking Bad

Poor Jesse. Working with Heisenberg caused a lot of physical and emotional trauma for this former drug addict, first his parents kicked him out, then he loses his girlfriend to overdose, then he gets forced to kill someone, gets beaten up, gets abused by Walt, gets sold to and imprisoned by the neo nazis and finally loses his second girlfriend at the hands of them. Seriously, he couldn't catch a break.

3. Rita Bennet and Debra Morgan - Dexter

I could've added one of them but both these ladies have gone through so much hell their whole lives and deserved so much better. Rita was abused by her mom and her husband and was unaware that her boyfriend, Dexter was a serial killer and this led to her death at the hands of the Trinity Killer and Debra lost everyone she loved and went through so much trauma, including almost getting killed and finding out her brother is a serial killer, which forced her to kill her boss to protect him and she herself was killed while trying to catch another killer.

4. Jules Vaughn - Euphoria

This sweet and innocent girl has been through a lot her whole life. First she dealt with body dysmorphia and got locked up in a mental asylum by her mother, she gets used for sex by grown up men, she ends up being an emotional crutch for Rue for her sobriety and finally she ends up being blackmailed by Nate with her nude pictures. Poor Jules.

5. Elle Tomkins - The Society

As if staying in a town without adults wasn't easy, it has been difficult for this New Ham resident. She deals with loneliness and is shut out by others around her, which causes her to catch the eyes of Campbell, who begins to abuse her and isolate her from everyone, which caused her to even try and commit suicide so that she wouldn't bear another day with that psychopath. And when she finally gets freed from him, he takes her away again with the help of his coup. And since the show got cancelled by Netflix, we will never know if she will ever be free from him again.

6. Sansa Stark - Game of Thrones

This poor girl has been through a lot of hell. First she gets imprisoned and abused by Joffery, then she has to run away with the help of a man who is obsessed with her, then she gets married to another monster named Ramsey who then rapes her on their wedding night, she loses almost all of her family members and is separated from half of them, not knowing whether they are alive or not. But her journey finally had a happy ending where she finally became the queen of the independent North.

7. Spencer Reid - Criminal Minds

While no one on this series caught a break, this BAU agent had it worse. His whole life was a mess back then. He had to deal with his mother, his father left him, had a terrible high school experience, got kidnapped several times, drugged, shot twice, constantly targeted by Unsubs, framed and lost his girlfriend in a murder-suicide by her stalker.

8. Chandler Bing - Friends

Despite his sarcastic wit and humour, Chandler hasn't had the best life in the past. First he dealt with his parents' divorce and was used by them, then he had to lose his toe in an accident and had to deal with loneliness while others had partners in their life and was later told that he was infertile. But thankfully he was able to find a happy ending with Monica in the end as they got married and adopted beautiful kids.

9. Chidi Anagonye - The Good Place

Chidi is such a good person, which is a blessing and sort of a curse for him as he sometimes got in trouble because of his need to make the right decisions. His soulmate was Eleanor, who was a terrible person on Earth and tried to improve her but faced ethical dilemmas because of that and realising that being a good person won't matter to him even caused him to have a nervous breakdown once.

10. Amanda Brotzman - Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency

Poor Amanda. While some characters had gone through it all, this girl hadn't had a best life because of Pararibulitis, a nerve disease which causes her to have painful hallucinations and this makes her scared of going outside, scared that it would eventually kill her. And then she finds out that her brother, whom she idolized her whole life had lied about having the disease so that he could mooch of his parents, which caused them to be broke, meaning that had they have enough money, Amanda would've been treated for her illness and she would be okay.
