    I picked this book up on a friends recommendation, and the only thing I knew about it was that it was written from the perspective of a dog. I love dogs, and this book hit all the right spots for me - it was funny, endearing, full of emotion and even had a little suspense.     After hearing so many good things about Perumal Murugan’s writing, I decided to pick up a copy of Pyre for myself. The plot is a too-familiar story about a newlywed couple from different castes who are headed to the husband's village to set up their life there, with the hopes that his family and village folk would forgive and accept them. However, things take a very different turn for the couple once they arrive. There are no big twists and turns in the storyline, and it has an almost predictable, inevitable tragic end, but Perumal Murugan managed to weave emotion and suspense into his writing beautifully.
