    Foundation Of Interstellar Studies Workshop

Taking place in New York City, Stephanie Thomas' "Direct Fusion Drive for Interstellar Exploration" will be one of many papers presented.

On June 13-15, the New York City College of Technology will host the Foundations of Interstellar Studies Workshop. There, Stephanie Thomas, who we discussed last week, will present her DFD paper with her colleagues. She will also discuss applications of the DFD to interstellar missions, including gravitational lensing imaging of exoplanets, flyby missions to the nearest star, and missions to Alpha--Centauri A or Alpha-Centauri B.

    Foundations of Interstellar Studies Workshop

The workshop, is organized by the physics department and the Center for Theoretical Physics at City Tech. It will focus on the growing prospect of interstellar space travel. With the recent discoveries of planets outside of our solar system, it is important consider the implications of interstellar travel. Proxima b is one of our closest stars, and around it, there is an earth-sized planet. With the ever-increasing relevance of interstellar entities and movements, the global physics community must participate in the interstellar endeavor.
