This Emmy Winner Used His Speech To Talk About The Lack Of Asian-Americans In Hollywood

"We've got a long way to go, but I know we can get there," Alan Yang said after accepting the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

Master of None creators Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang took home Emmys for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series tonight for their work on "Parents," the tear-jerking second episode of the Netflix series.

"Parents" was praised for its exploration of the immigrant experience, a narrative rarely depicted in mainstream television.

Before Yang left the stage, he took a moment to highlight the lack of Asian-Americans in Hollywood.

...This is Long Duk Dong. Y'know, the "very weird Chinese guy" from Sixteen Candles?

So yeah. "We've got a long way to go," said Yang. "But I know we can get there. I believe in us."

He also gave a shout-out to Asian parents, joking: "If you could just do me a favor, just a couple of you, get your kids cameras instead of violins!" 😂😂😂😂😂
