On the 31st of May, 2022, India lost one of its most prominent musicians, Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, mere hours after he performed at a concert in Kolkata.
He died doing what he did best — singing and winning millions of hearts.
His loss is a void that can never really be filled, especially for those of us who grew up listening to his music. His songs made us experience love, heartbreak, and everything in between.
I mean, can you even imagine a romantic playlist without "Khuda Jaane"?
Or a 2000s-themed party without "Ab To Forever" playing on repeat?
I don't think any song will ever make me feel the way KK made me feel with "Aankhon Mein Teri Ajab Si".
I can't even begin to comprehend just how much I am going to miss the powerful duo that was Emraan Hashmi and KK.
Some of the nicest songs of the 2000s came out of their collaboration.
This other severely underrated gem, for example.
This list would, honestly, never end.
It would be criminal of me to not include this number.
Will we ever have a song about friendship that is as poignant as "Yaaron Dosti"?
Or a song that makes us reminisce the good old days the way "Pal" does?
I'll leave you with this exquisite KK song, picturised on Irrfan Khan, because I like to believe that the two legends are joining forces and recreating their wonderful art in heaven.
Thank you, KK, for defining our childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.
