St. Olaf is often ranked among the most beautiful college campuses in America. With more than 350 acres of woods, prairies, wetlands, and trails that make up the Natural Lands, plus majestic brick and limestone buildings inspired by the castles of Europe, there's always something to inspire awe at St. Olaf. Which of our remarkable structures might you be?

You'd be easy to miss if it weren't for all your many charms. There's a reason people are so devoted to you and the multitudes contained within. Maybe it's the weird shoes. Maybe it's the DJ booth. Maybe it's the two basements(!). But if you absolutely must go through life as one of the smallest buildings on campus, you've got to admit, it's pretty cool to be Skifter Hall.

What would St. Olaf be without you? You're woven into the very fabric of who we are! When the wind whispers "Um! Yah! Yah!" it calls for thee, Old Main. Without question, you are the most iconic, important, and beloved building on campus. There's something quite calming and familiar about your presence as you remind us how we'll always be a part of this place no matter where we go next.

It makes sense that you are Holland Hall because nothing else on campus can compare to your beauty. Everyone knows that you are the epitome of charm and grace. The other buildings all wish they could be you. The students all wish they could major in economics, history, philosophy, political science, social work and family studies, or sociology and anthropology just to be closer to you. Sometimes it's just so hard being the best💅

I wouldn't call you a motormouth but others might. You've simply got a lot to say! And it's all worth hearing when it comes from the Center for Art and Dance. You are growing, glowing, evolving, changing, and driven to be your best self at any given moment — which means you're a pace or two ahead of the rest of us. So if being really cool was a competition? Well, you'd win first place and I'd start the standing ovation👏

You're the first one I want to see in the morning and the last one I want to see at night. Beautiful, versatile, and made of brick — no one can hold a candle to you, Theater Building. Even though you were once a swimming pool, and also a gym, but now reborn as a theater, I know you still have so much of yourself to give. And frankly, it's your service-driven heart that makes me love you so. Keep being you, boo. *boop*

You are stately, modern, and easy to find. Some people might call you basic, but I call you reliable! When I step out your front door, the path is clear: go to class, go to the gym, go to the caf. I'm not confused! And if you weren't being you, then who would be? (Mohn? Wait, who's "Mohn?!")

Larson Hall

You are the easiest person in the world to spend time with. Lovely and open-minded, you show kindness to others and open the doors of their hearts to the truths that they didn't even know were there. You might be called a healer, but doesn't that sound kind of boring and one-sided? Instead, you are a true friend. Someone people show up for because you show up for them. It would be impossible to remember life at St. Olaf without a treasured moment from Boe Memorial Chapel. You bring people together💛🖤

You can be really difficult (to find) but the destination might be worth the journey when one's heading to Flaten Art Barn. No one really knows what will happen once they walk through the front door — but everything feels fresh, new, and exciting the moment they're inside. You really stand out, in a good way, but it only makes the moments sweeter and more meaningful because they are usually so brief. Let me put it this way: you are like a lightning bug in the night; beautiful and illusive, but if held too closely then some of the magic is gone. It's just an honor to know you.
