Year 10 International Baccalaureate students rejoice - a quiz to help you decide on a Global Context for your Personal Project! Do the quiz. See how you go. By no means is this prescriptive, but it will help you understand what those Global Concepts mean, anyway. Don't take my advice! I may be wrong! Follow your instincts. Do what you are passionate about. If you have any questions, refer them to your teacher ASAP!

What Global Context Should I Focus On For My Personal Project?

I care about the environment but I know I can't do much about it just by myself.

Things that happened in the past interests me.

I am pretty artsy and enjoy being creative more than doing homework.

I consider myself somewhat of a science-y person.

The rights of humans and animals are important to me.

I'm interested in health and wellbeing in young people.

I wonder sometimes what the world will be like in 50 years.

"What is the nature and purpose of creative expression?"  
You are interested in the ways that people express their ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs in values through creative expression. You are intrigued by artistic works of any medium, including songs and literature. You might also be creative, yourself. 
Consider doing projects relating to art and the stories hidden within them. Or, create a piece of artwork that expresses a particular idea or point of view on an issue that you have.

Personal and Cultural Expression

"How is everything connected?"
You are interested in how people are connected through systems that exist within our world (be it trade, economics, politics, to shared ideas or passions). You appreciate the relationship between local environments and their impact on a national and even to a global scale. You are interested in how we are to sustain our life on Earth and our future on this planet.
Consider doing a project relating to how people within our world is connected; how the actions of one can make a huge impact. You might even like to consider doing a project yourself where you initiate an impact that is small but has loads of potential to turn global.

Globalisation and Sustainability

"How do we understand the world in which we live?"
You are interested in the natural world and its systems and how humans use their understanding of scientific principles in order to learn more about the world around us. You are interested in new technologies and how they may be used to connect humans together. You might be interested in machines and how they work in order to solve a problem. You may also be interested in how humans use science in order to understand better the impact that technological advances impact communities and how it allows us to adapt environments according to our needs.
Consider doing a project relating to innovation and how innovative ideas and/or technolgy is impacting the way humans live and operate. You might even want to design and/or create an app that helps humans solve a daily problem. Or use technology to create something that helps humans solve a problem.

Scientific and Technical Innovation

"What are the consequences of our common humanity?"
You are interested in creating a fair and equitable world, your rights and responsibilities, how resources are distributed around the world and whether this is done fairly, equal opportunity for all, and peace. You could look into topics relating to anything that has been mentioned above, along with maybe even creating an event that helps you make an impact in a particular area of interest.
Consider exploring what is unfair that is happening around you, or to you (in relation to laws and human rights). You might like to start a movement within the school. Or, maybe think about something relating to politics and making that more user-friendly for teens, like yourself, so you know more about that.

Fairness and Development

"Who am I? Who are we?"
You are interested in discovering more about yourself and the people around you. You want to explore themes of identity, beliefs and values. You might be interested in physical and mental health and how that changes or manipulates the mind and body to become what it is. You might be interested in other cultures and want to learn more about a particular culture. You might be interested in what the meaning of life is and are keen to discover that through researching the past, present, or even the future.
You might like to explore things related to the human condition. What makes us who we are. Your can write a book, make a website, a documentary, short story (a creative aspect) or you can do a TED-talk style presentation where you communicate to an audience something relating to us as humans and how we function.

Identities and Relationships

"What is the meaning of when and where?"
You might be interested in family history, turning points in humankind, discoveries from the past and how they still influence our life today. Topics that might interest you include making a family tree or understanding the influence of a particular religion throughout the ages. This is all about how things happened in the past and still has influence today.
Consider projects relating to how events in the past have consequences (positive and negative) that can be felt today. Explore how technology has changed the way we live and will continue to. Research into the history of ideas; nationalism, racism, Trumpism. Communicate your ideas in any way you wish.
