Khloé Kardashian Said That Blac Chyna “Is Doing The Best She Can As A Parent” After She Was Accused Of Trying To “Erase” Her As Niece Dream Kardashian’s Mom

Khloé sparked backlash this week when she referred to herself as niece Dream’s “third parent” and said that it’s important she has a “great maternal influence.”

It’s no secret that Khloé Kardashian has always been incredibly close to her younger brother Rob Kardashian, and has been one of his biggest supports since he became a father in 2016.

Rob shares his daughter, Dream Kardashian, with his ex Blac Chyna, and the two have always had a rocky relationship — some of which was documented in the E! reality series, Rob & Chyna.

Following their split in 2017, Chyna sued Rob’s family and alleged that it was their fault that the show did not get picked up for a second season. Khloé, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and their mom, Kris Jenner, each took to the stand during the trial last year and accused Chyna of being physically abusive towards Rob.

They said that they were concerned for his wellbeing throughout the relationship, and network executives also testified that the show wasn’t renewed because of Rob and Chyna’s split — not because of anything that his relatives may have said or done.

In May 2022, a jury ruled in the KarJenners’s favor, and their reaction to the entire thing was chronicled in Season 2 of their reality show, The Kardashians.

Here, Khloé brought up how much time she spent looking after Chyna’s daughter while Chyna was trying to sue her. She said to Kim: “While she’s suing us, Dream’s at my house!”

And in this week’s episode of The Kardashians, Khloé opened up about her relationship with Dream like never before with comments that some felt were shady towards Chyna.

The star said that she is effectively “a third parent” to her six-year-old niece, and that she feels it is important that she has a “great maternal influence.” She also hinted at the irreparable damage that Chyna’s court case had caused within the family.

She said: “I do not have a relationship with Dream’s mom. It’s just hard to have a relationship with someone when they sue you for hundreds of millions of dollars.”

And after planning Dream’s sixth birthday party with Rob, Khloé said in a confessional: “I feel like I’m like a third parent for Dream. I do know how important it is for Dream to have a great maternal influence — whether that be from me or her own mom or whoever, it’s important and wherever she gets it from she gets it from.”

Scott Disick agreed with this perspective and praised Khloé for all that she does for Dream, telling her: “You take care of so many people, I just can’t believe that you’re basically somewhat of a coparent to Dream. You’re more than an aunt.”

“Probably more than an aunt, just a third parent,” Khloé replied. “The third wheel.” To which Scott said: “You’re like the wheel that makes the cart move!”

“Dream is one of my babies too, just like all the rest of them, and I absolutely love being a mom to people,” Khloé later shared. “I love mothering people, I don’t know if they like that or not but it’s in my blood just to be a mom, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

But these comments didn’t sit well with some viewers, and many took to social media to call Khloé and Scott out for trying to “erase” Chyna. One person tweeted: “Khloe Kardashian is a disgusting person, talking about she's Dream's 3rd parent and that she's a maternal influence for Dream. Dream has a mother! They really try their hardest to erase Chyna!”

Someone else added: “i love khloe but if i was blac chyna i’d feel some typa way ab another woman using my child as a storyline basically saying you’re a second mom ??? right after saying you and the biological mother don’t even talk because she sued you for hundreds of millions ?”

And others also suggested that Khloé and Scott’s comments were actually more telling of Rob’s parenting than of Chyna's, with one writing: “Scott’s comment about Khloe being Dream’s ‘third parent’ was so messy. They tried to shade Chyna but really ended up shading Rob."

“If Khloe thought the end result to be that Blac Chyna looks like the bad parent because Dream is always with Khloe, try again,” another said. “Chyna isn’t bringing Dream to Khloe’s house, Rob is. He’s the parent not present.”

“When Dream is with Rob and @khloekardashian decides to take care of her, thats not Chyna's fault, its Rob who can't handle his child alone. That does not make Khloe a mother to Dream. That will always be Chyna's job forever. So Khloe stop with the shade,” a third tweeted.

And Khloé responded to the mounting backlash on Thursday night, where she insisted that she, Rob, and Chyna are all “doing the best” they can and want to “move on from the negativity.”

“I love ALL my nieces and nephews more than I can express,” she wrote. “Dream and I are particularly close. My brother and I are extremely close. I am with Dream all the time because I’m with my brother all the time. I love her beyond measure.”

“I consider all of my nieces and nephews my babies. I even consider my sisters my babies,” Khloé went on. “I wholeheartedly believe that it takes a village to raise a child. Life is full of ups and downs and I am proud that we have a family that can lean on one another. That's what family does. We are a tribe and all of us will always be there for one another. Especially the babies!”

In a second post, Khloé referred to Chyna by her real name, Angela White, as she said: “Life is challenging enough. I hate how something so sweet as Dream’s 6th birthday is getting twisted.”

“Rob is doing the best he can as a parent and in life. Angela is doing the best she can as a parent and in life. I am doing the best I can as a parent and in life,” she went on.

“I’m sure the narrative of ‘The Kardashians’ VS Chyna' is more fun to read about but there really is nothing there anymore,” Khloé added. “We all want to move on from the negativity.”

“The focus is on Dream and her happiness and making sure she feels unconditional love at her mommy’s house, her daddy’s house, and any family members house for that matter,” Khloé said.

“Please stop pinning us against one another. Life is hard enough,” she concluded. “Let’s try to lead with love and understanding especially when children are involved who may see your clickbait one day.”

Chyna has not publicly acknowledged any of the comments from this week, but earlier this year she said that she “cannot control if Khloé is watching Dream” while in Rob’s custody, which she said they split 50/50.

She pointed out: “That’s when he has his daughter.”

The Kardashians airs on Hulu in the US, and Disney+ internationally.
