11 Summer Water Sports That We Just Invented

Let the games begin! Though the game of trying to figure out how Starburst got so unexplainably juicy will simply never end.

1. Neighbor War

How to Play: Fill up buckets of water balloons and leave them on your neighbors' doorsteps with instructions and the locations of their allies and enemies.

Who Wins: The driest alliance when the last balloon is popped.

2. Water Tag

How to Play: Using squirt guns and hoses and water splashes, whoever is "it" has to tag someone, but there's absolutely no backsies because then the whole game would just be two people throwing water at each other.

Who Wins: Everyone.

3. Soak The Flag

How to Play: Capture the Flag, but everyone has water guns and water balloons. Every time you get hit with water, you have to return to your base before you can try to capture the other team's flag again.

Who Wins: The team that manages to capture the other's flag.

4. Slingshot Soaker Savior

How to Play: One group of three uses a water balloon slingshot to launch precious cargo into the air, then teams of two or more attempt to cradle them to safety with towels.

Who Wins: The team who manages to catch a water balloon without it breaking all over them. Or, if teams prove to be talented at this, whoever catches the most unbroken balloons.

5. Tube Targets

How to Play: Watery basketball with two points for every shot made in the water and three points for every shot made from outside the water.

Who Wins: Whichever team has the most points.

6. Pool Pileup

How to Play: Using two separate small pools, two buckets, and towels, two teams compete to fill up their pool first by soaking towels in the bucket (which gets refilled by a designated team member), carrying the dripping towels to their respective pool and emptying what's left.

Who Wins: The team that fills their pool first.

7. Flotation Station

How to Play: Teams are given pool toys and 15 minutes to get their concoction together.

Who Wins: The team with the tallest superfloater.

8. Water Walker

How to Play: Contestants jump into the pool while holding ridiculous poses like walking, holding deep thoughts, levitating, and so on. Whatever the contestants can think up.

Who Wins: The best pose wins the whole thing — the judge can be the person taking photos, but cannot be a competitor.

9. The Slipper Bowl

How to Play: A tarp is the bowling lane, your body is the bowling ball, and water balloons are the pins.

Who Wins: Just like in bowling, the individual with the highest score wins.

10. Bubblephone

How to Play: An independent judge comes up with a sentence. Two teams have to pass the sentence down the line, but can only do so underwater.

Who Wins: The team with maybe even one word right. Heck, even knowing how many words were originally even in the sentence.

11. Boarding School

How to Play: One team throws water balloons and the other uses a boogie board to hit the launched balloons. Once every team member has swung, the pitching and batting teams alternate.

Who Wins: The team with the most balloons hit.
