1. Join or create a Discord group.

Discord is an online voice and text chat room. There's an unofficial one that you can find here (https://discordapp.com/invite/0zJqovBoTC4BvnSS) or you could even create your own.

2. Engage with the University and Union on social media.

You can find out some really important information that you might have otherwise missed out on by following us and the University on our relevant social media channels.

3. When you're emailing lecturers about work, ask for feedback.

Feedback is the holy grail of University students. If you're emailing a lecturer about work, ask for feedback as it can really help you improve your grades.

4. Take the time to travel to the University at least once or twice.

It's worth making the journey so that you can get a real feel for the University and meet with the lecturers, supervisors and colleagues you've been speaking with online.

5. Set out when you're going to work on your degree ahead of time so you don't forget important things.

It's really important that you don't forget things about your degree or general life, so make sure you plan ahead of time.
