NASA Changing Your Zodiac? Nope, You've Been Trolled!

iPhone hadn't even released 4s the last time I heard about this news.

My newsfeed for the past week has been flooded with the news like "NASA Is Changing Your Zodiac Sign!" "Introducing a New Zodiac Sign, Ophiuchus" or something like that .

I thought I had a deja-vu, because if I've remembered it correctly, this ain't news. The last time I heard about this "Zodiac sign chaos" was back then when iPhone haven't even released 4s.

So I looked into it a little bit, and found articles in 2011 which basically saying the same thing. "New Zodiac Sign: Astrology Makeover or Misinformation?" (Nov,2011)

So what exactly is the mess?

In 2011,astronomer Parke Kunkle was interviewed by Star Tribune. In this interview, he mentioned how in astronomy, there exist a 13th constellation that people don't really know about. These words later started a chaos among astrology fans.

This time, however, it was NASA dropping da bomb. In a blog post by NASA, it introduced to the kids how the astrology was created, and how the old schedule of signs does not match the current constellation due to rotations of the earth and the constellations.

And you know the rest of the story....

People actually got so crazy about this that NASA had to clarify everything on a Tumblr post last week, in which they highlighted "Astrology is NOT Astronomy" and semi made fun of everyone by saying "So, we didn’t change any zodiac signs…we just did the math."

Bravo, NASA.
