Ingredients

2 ripe pears

12 sage leaves, plus extra for garnish 2 cups water

2 cups brown sugar

6 ounces Smirnoff Original

1 & 1/2 cups soda water

2 ounces lemon juice

Preparation

1. Cut one of the pears in half. Set aside one of the halves. Chop the other half into 1-inch pieces, along with the other whole pear.

2. Place the pear chunks in a small pot with the sage leaves, water, and brown sugar. Place on medium heat and whisk until the sugar dissolves. Once the sugar dissolves, place the reserved pear half in the pot, flesh side down. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Let simmer for about 15 minutes, flipping the pear halfway through. After 15 minutes, remove the pear half with tongs, then strain the rest of the syrup. Let everything cool. Once cool, slice the poached pear half into thin slices for garnish.

3. For each cocktail: Fill a glass with ice. Add 1 ounce pear sage syrup, 11โ„2 ounces Smirnoff Original, 3 ounces soda water, and 1โ„2 ounce lemon juice. Garnish with a slice of poached pear and a sage leaf.
