1. Humans are truth bias

there is a reasonable expectation that people will adhere to cultural guidelines not to deceive others and will endeavor to tell us the truth as they know it. This makes it difficult to detect when someone is lying.

2. There are nine different types of lies

1) white lies, 2) Tall tales & bullshit, 3) exaggerations, 4) understatements, 5) displacements, 6) equivocation, 7) concealments, 8) flasification, 9) collaboration : are the nine types are lies a person uses.

3. When a person lies their body reacts

the requirements of deception can lead to cognitive overload which my result in leakage. Leakage is uncontrollable nonverbal displays that are caused when a person lies. Some examples are fidgeting, and micro-expressions.

4. Detecting lies is harder than it seems

unassisted lie detection relies solely on the detectors skill in questioning the suspect, observing the suspects behaviors, gathering lie-relevant information and making a decision about the suspects veracity. Plus add in that truth bias and an average person can only detect lies 30 percent of the time

5. Lying and deception is everywhere

Look around, if you see a billboard advertisement, chances are you are looking at a lie! visual deception such as Photoshop is often used to change products and models taking away any flaws. You can also see lying in (shocker!!) politics and media writings. that's why you should always check your sources to make sure they are reliable
