Vacation in Denmark. What you NEED to see.

We all have different places we want to see and what we want to do. If you go and visit Denmark in the new year, here are some of the places you definitely need to see! Denmark is known for a few things, such as Lego, Bluetooth, the loudspeaker, H. C. Andersen, biggest bacon export and any other things. Denmark is a very green country, with many forests.

Should you visit Copenhagen?

Copenhagen is the capital of the small country, Denmark. Copenhagen is the biggest city with around 602.481 people [ research from 2017]. Copenhagen is almost just like any standard city in America, so you feel at home, when walking down "Strøget". If you're visiting this city only, you might not see much you haven't seen before. There are, of course, unique things to see, but it's not everything Denmark has to offer!

Rubjerg Knude Fyr - Løkken

In "Løkken" you can find this lighthouse sticking out of the sand. It was build back in 1899 and the light was shut off in 1968 due to the sand traveling. Once you were still able to see the other small houses around the lighthouse, but they're completely covered in sand! You might be able to go up the lighthouse and look out over the sea. Almost a 360 view! If you look in the small towns near, you can see houses that are being abandoned, because the land is slowly being swallowed by the sea. They try to remove or move the houses further in. It's 100% free to visit.

Den Gamle By - Aarhus

In Aarhus you can visit "Den Gamle By", which is almost a like going back in time. The oldest part of the small town dates back to 1864 and the newest part is supposed to have the feel and look of the 1974. There are people walking around in the clothing of the time, in the town, and makes it feel more like you're visiting a different aera. Fun fact, H. C. Andersen old house is in this town! It costs 135 danish crowns [around $20] for adults to enter and it's free for thoes under 18. It's really a good place to visit with the family!

Randers Regnskov

Randers Regnskov is a whole other world inside 3 big domes! It's like visiting the rainforest, inside. Randers Regnskov has partners all over the world, to get the animals home to showcase them. They use a lot of the money they get, to send to the rainforest in Africa. They help doing different kind of research on the animals they get home, to see how to help them and even humans! They have a wide range of different animals. It's a very fun place to visit! There are lockers for your jackets and bags, if you need to take them off. It's pretty warm inside, so don't wear too much clothes, if you're planning on going. It costs 175 danish crowns [around $25] for adults, 110 danish crowns [around $16] from kids age 3 - 11, kids from 0 - 2 go in for free. There is a café and a gift shop inside, if you want some food or a fun souvenir.

Egeskov Slot

Egeskov castle is located on Fyn, the small island between Jylland and Sjælland its a massive area with pretty nature and a beautiful castle. There is a big maze to go through, playground and beautiful gardens. There are even peacocks walking around. There are many stories around the castle and you can et a guide to show you around and talk about them! There is also a showcase of old and vintage cars, if that is something you find interesting. It costs 195 danish crowns [around $28] and children go for 115 danish crowns [around $17]

Djurs Sommerland

Djurs Sommerland is definitely something to put on your "to visit list"! It's a massive theme park with different kind of rides for all ages! It is the biggest theme park in Scandinavian. It has around 60 different rides. One ride, Banan bådene[Banana boats] are sadly going on the last ride the 20th October 2019. It has been going for 27 seasons, so they're working hard for something *BIG* that is coming in the park by 2021. There are different themes throughout the park, such as: Pirate land, Viking Land, Western land and more. There are different themed restaurants and even grill/eating areas, if you want to bring your own food. The park was formed back in 1981 and is still going strong with new rides added each year almost. It costs 295 [around $43] for people aged 3 - 64. People over 65 get in for 260 [around $38]. Thoes under 3 get in for free.

Christiania

Christiania is a small part of Copenhagen, where the people who live there have their own rights to whatever they please. The "Freetown" turned 48 year years September 26th in 2019. Christiania’s self-management is built on, that every individual has a responsibility for their own life and their home. The resident’s in an area have a common responsibility for the area’s development and condition. Legoland

Like Lego? Of course you do! Denmark is know for their amazing brick toys, that are known worldwide. Lego was founded back in 1932 on the 10th of August. It has since grown intensely over the years. Many bigger companies, such as Disney, marvel, minecraft and more, have made toys with Lego. Legoland in Billund is a big theme park for Lego. They have rides for all ages. It costs 395 [around $58] danish crowns per person.

Sky mountain

Mostly know as Himmelbjerget between Danes. It sounds way more impressive than it it, since it's only 147 meters over sea level. It's definitely something worth visiting, since the nature around is really beautiful. And how fun isn't it, to say you've visited "sky mountain"? It's completely free to visit, so put on your good shoes and go for a nice walk!

Fårup Sommerland

Just like Djurs Sommerland, Fårup Sommerland is another theme park here in Denmark. It's not as big, but it still have some fun attractions and rides. Both parks have water parks, so if you go on a warm day, bring a swimsuit. You can also buy one there. This park was opened in 1975 and is still growing slowly. It has restaurants and open places to bring your own food too. It also has grill areas. It costs 245 danish crowns [around $30] per person.

ARoS Museum

ARoS is a big interactive and 3D museum. You can do small science experiments, exercises and look at fun and beautiful art, which is fun for the whole family. It's very unique and it has a 360° rainbow view on the top of the museum. It costs 140 for adults [around $20] thoes under 18 gets in for free. It's a very different and unique museum and should really be a place you need to see. It was founded all the way back in 1859, so it's an old museum, but it still looks modern and futuristic at the same time.
