9 Outstanding Tips On Choosing The Right Halloween Costumes

Halloween is undeniably one of our favorite and most-awaited holidays. Who doesn’t love an event when you get the chance to dress up as anything or anyone? Of course, there are people who start panicking as the holiday draws nearer because they are stuck for ideas and don’t know what they want to be for Halloween.

Have no fear, this is a common dilemma and there is no need to freak out! There are lots of ways you can come up with original and creative ideas for a costume, and do it within a budget, too.

Here are some tips that can aid you in settling on the right idea for your Halloween costume:

    1. Find your own style

Are you aiming for funny? Sexy? Perky? Scary? Your Halloween costume gives you a great opportunity to portray a side of yourself you don't usually get a chance to show. You can 'hide' your trait behind something scary, wacky or weird, as you see fit. You also have the option of choosing a costume that emphasizes a side of you that everyone knows well, like cheeky, funny or bright. In trying to find your own style, consider the outfits you are most comfortable with or what you wear on a daily basis. These may also give you some inspiration.

    2. Consider the colors you usually wear

If you love black, dressing as a fairy might not be an option (although you could be a dark fairy). However, if you are a fan of bright colors, you have lots of options at your disposal that range from rainbows, elves, pumpkins, ghosts, fairies and various others. Darker colors can be used for making costumes of dark wizards, vampires, evil geniuses, or even skeletons. You can also mix and match because anything goes on Halloween!

    3. Look back at what you wore previously

You also have the choice of turning an old costume into a new one by adding a few extra touches or you can choose to build on it. Of course, there are no rules that say you must dress as something that fits your personality, but it is a good idea to choose a Halloween costume that reflects your identity.

    4. Explore your interests

What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing? This is the time to indulge in things you like. You can make a list of things you have an interest in, whether it is sports, dressing up, playing games, cooking, cosplay, etc. For instance, if you are into a TV show, you can dress up as your favorite character. The same applies to books. The choices of Halloween costumes are endless and you have plenty of room to experiment.

    5. Settle on a budget

Halloween costumes can range from immensely expensive to very cheap (or completely free), which makes it essential for you to have an idea of what you can or are willing to spend. When you are choosing a costume, you should always check what is included in it as some costumes offer better deals as opposed to others that require add-ons. For example, Halloween Batman costumes are not very expensive and are easily available, too. You can try CostumeCraze where you'll find some very interesting Batman character costumes.

    6. Wait for sales

It is better to prepare for Halloween in advance if you don't want to spend a lot of money. If that's the case, you can be on the lookout for sales that occur during different times of the year. Stores also have sales close to Halloween so you can wait to see if they discount your favorite costume right before the holiday. You can also browse online and look for the best possible prices of the costume you want.

    7. Don’t make last minute decisions

Making decisions at the last minute is not such a good idea because you may end up spending more than you intended or get stuck with a costume you don't want to wear. Make sure you have put some thought into the decision and don't choose anything at the eleventh hour because it's difficult to make good choices under pressure.

    8. Prepare in advance if you are making the costume

If you plan to make the costume on your own, you must make sure there is enough time. You have to give yourself at least two weeks for making the costume so it will be ready on time.

    9. Check the weather and

Make sure your costume would be right for the weather on Halloween. You don't want to be hot or cold, depending on the costume you choose. Also, try out your costume before you have to wear it so that you can know if there are any sizing or fitting problems that need to be dealt with.
