IDK about you, but I have a slight obsession with restaurants that present their dishes in ridiculous, over-the-top ways to seem *cool* and ~different~. Here are some of my recent faves, courtesy of r/WeWantPlates:
."Pizza staircase."
."Fries or bread in a clog is almost excusable, but ice cream?"
."We ordered a salad..."
."Scrambled egg in an eggshell, on a straw hat, on ice, on a slate!"
."Black skin fried chicken served on driftwood."
."Yes, I asked, it’s a real bone."
."Left a trail all the way from the counter to the table."
."Ordered the 'Feedbag Shovel' and got this abomination..."
."Why is this a thing?"
."[Hummus] fresh from the garden."
."Soba noodles in [an] ice block."
."A glazed doughnut grilled cheese on a banana hanger (hanging over tomato soup)."
."Wife got plate, but upside down."
."French restaurant served my [girlfriend] food on a rock."
."The classic. Straight up shovel (but it was good)."
."I wanted a plate, not a whole tree."
."Fried asparagus."
.And finally, "Matcha tea chocolate crisp on wire trees and in a squirrel's mouth."
What was your favorite (or least favorite) plate-less dish? Tell me in the comments!
