Former "Nice Guys," What Made You Realize You Were Treating Women Like Garbage?

From "Nice Guy" to actual, genuine good person.

If you clicked on this article, chances are you're familiar with the concept of the Nice Guy™. But, if you're not, here's a quick overview:

Urban Dictionary defines a "nice guy" as a man who "thinks he's entitled to date or have sexual relationships with women simply because he sees himself as a 'good person.'"

If you're a woman, you've probably had at least one shitty/creepy experience with the Nice Guy. So, if you're reading this and you identify as a former Nice Guy, we want to hear what finally made you come to your senses and change your ways.

Maybe you decided to take a gender studies class in college, and it made you realize, "Wow, women are actually people deserving of respect."

Perhaps you were walking behind a woman, and she constantly looked back to check if you were following her, and you finally understood the constant fear and danger women live in and that your kind of behavior wasn't helping that.

Or maybe you had a daughter, and it changed everything you thought and felt about respecting women as a whole (I mean, hey, better late than never...I guess).

If you're a reformed Nice Guy with a story to share, we'd like to hear from you. Tell us how and why you realized treating women like this isn't the way in the comments, or use this form if you'd rather remain anonymous. We'll feature your responses in an upcoming BuzzFeed Community post.
