1. First things first, Episode 1, town-wide mean girl is DISSING her sister hardcore & Betty's reaction? SHE FREAKING APOLOGIZES.
Cheryl is being hella cruel about M.I.A. Polly, and instead of growing a backbone and defending her sister, she tells Cheryl she's sorry. I mean yeah her creepy lover bro died, but she just bitched up your sister, CRUSH HER BETTY!!
2. Acts super personally victimized because Archie isn't in love with her.
Get over it Betty! Rarely do the boys we crush on our entire childhood tell us they're in love with us when we casually suggest dating. And he did say he still cared about her a lot. He was honestly super sweet to her about the whole thing, she's so dumb.
3. She freaking breaks into her teachers car.
You might argue here that she had good reason to...BUT SHE DIDN'T. High-key she was just jealous Archie & Grundy were getting hot and heavy. She didn't have any evidence to BREAK INTO HER CAR. THAT IS ILLEGAL BETTY.
4. Literally. Attempts. Murder.
There's no denying Chuck is the devil, but when Betty starts to literally boil him alive that is a serious line to cross. And then to make things (& Betty even worse) she also tries to DROWN him. While still boiling him.
5. Not to mention she's simultaneously pretending to be her sister.
A weird, slutty, raven haired version of her cookie cutter, blonde sister. As though killing a man while dressed in nothing but a bra is better if you're simply pretending it's not you doing it.
6. Dark Betty is actually just the Arthur meme IRL.
So yeah the first time Dark Betty comes out to play with Chuck is hella creepy, but every other time she just roles up her first and kind of stills her face. Not that intense Betty, try again.
7. She never even attempted to visit her sister.
Once Betty finally decides to go visit Polly it takes her all of 2 minutes of the episode to make it happen. And then once there tells Polly casually "I should have come sooner, all I knew was that you were sick." Yeah Betty. Sick enough to have to freaking move away. And you didn't think it was important to make a visit??
8. Her entire relationship with Jughead.
Even if you've never read the comics, you've at least read the Wikipedia page/read articles/seen interviews & know that Juggy is supposed to be a loud & proud asexual. And now he's suddenly in love with Betty?? Nope. Not about that.
9. She clearly doesn't even KNOW Jughead at all.
When Archie tells her Jughead wouldn't want a birthday party that should not have surprised her even a little. As one of my friends said "I"ve only known him for two days & even I knew he wouldn't want a birthday party."
10. And why does she act like she's just met him!!???
Not only does it surprise her that he doesn't want a birthday party, but she can't believe he's never had one in his whole life. WERE YOU NOT CHILDHOOD FREINDS??? Literally Betty, you reference your childhood so much, don't you think you would have been invited to these birthday parties you think occurred??
11. She's psychotically possessive over Archie.
Mostly before she's dating Jughead, when it's ALMOST understandable, but once she has a boyfriend she needs to get over it! So what if him & ________ have any kind of relationship, obviously he's going to move past not being in love with you Betty. Now you just need to get over him & realize you have a super hot boyfriend you DO NOT deserve.
12. Lastly, she doesn't let Jughead be himself.
When he moves to his new school on the Southside we see him for the first time surrounded by people he's comfortable with, laughing, smiling, genuinely having a good time. And then here comes Betty. At his freaking school. In the middle of the school day. WHY IS SHE NOT AT HER OWN SCHOOL??? It was really THAT important to her to snatch him away from his new friends??
Basically Betty is the worst & I have some serious beef with her. And hopefully have convinced anyone reading this to adopt my beef.
13. BONUS: WHEN WILL THEY PLAY "BLACK BETTY"???
Raise your hand if you waited the entire season for "Black Betty" to start playing every time our local vanilla shake started clenching up her little devious fists. Come on sound supervisors (or whoever's in charge of soundtrack) GET ON IT!
