Fire Cupping is an ancient practice that uses localized pressure to promote healing and reduce pain in the body — and it's also crazy to watch! We had three of the Test Friends try it out for the first time.
Needless to say, Daysha, Maycie, and Ryan were a little nervous about what was about to happen....
But Sonya, who owns Golden Folk Wellness and has been practicing Fire Cupping for over 7 years, assured them that no one would be burned, and it really isn't meant to hurt, it's meant to feel like a reverse massage.
Then it was time for the therapy! Maycie went first, and after stripping down and laying on the massage table, Sonya lit a cotton ball on fire, put it into a cup, quickly removed the cotton ball, and then stuck the cup on Maycie's back.
Daysha and Ryan, who were watching from the sidelines, were pretty freaked out by what they saw...
Next up was Daysha, who said Fire Cupping felt like having a toilet plunger stuck to her back.
Ryan, who was definitely the most apprehensive about the experience, was the last to go, and his reaction was quite dramatic!
But as Daysha so eloquently put it, Ryan's back was so red that it looked like a bunch of tomatoes... so maybe his back was just more sensitive?
After the Fire Cupping was finished, Sonya rubbed everyone's back to redisperse the blood, which was everyone's favorite part.
While the actual Fire Cupping was slightly uncomfortable and weird feeling, after it was over and everyone was relaxing in their little burrito blankets, they all felt pretty good...
