5 Reasons Why You Should Watch Super Bowl LI

Super Bowl Sunday Is Almost Here Again!

It's almost that time of year again. The world's most annually watched sporting event will take place on the 5th of February 2017 in Houston, Texas.

The dynasty that is Brady, Belichick and The New England Patriots will face off against probable season MVP Matt Ryan's Atlanta Falcons in what should be a brilliant end to another action packed season.

If you are an NFL fan you obviously don't need encouraging to tune in, wherever you are. If you've never seen the spectacle that is the Super Bowl before, here are five good reasons why you should start this year.

    1. You Can Root For The Underdog

One of the best things about watching a game that you have no real emotional attachment to is the fact that you can support the underdog like a lifelong fanatic.

Now there is no doubting that Brady and Belichick will be in the GOAT (Greatest of all time) conversations in their respective fields once all the dust has settled on their careers, but there have been substantiated claims of foul play along the way, and they just win all the time anyway.

On the other side of the field you have the Atlanta Falcons and their nice boy from next door quarterback, Matt Ryan. The NFL is a franchise controlled by very rich men so there are no real fairytale stories like those you can find in other sports, but Atlanta should be your team this year if you like seeing the status quo rocked a little bit.

    2. Lady Gaga

This has nothing to do with American football, but at the same time it has everything to do with the Super Bowl. At least it does this year.

This is the only game of the year where the half-time lasts a full 30 minutes and the NFL make sure that it's a 30 minutes that you won't forget quickly.

Lady Gaga will be the superstar act performing at this year's Super Bowl, so even if you're not that into the game, you can make it through half of it just to see her strut her stuff in what will definitely be an all-in performance.

    3. You Don't Need To Know The Rules

It's the Super Bowl so just come along and enjoy it. A novice will have no idea what is happening, but that's part of the attraction on Super Bowl night. Turn it into a party and just be completely confused for the duration.

Las Vegas takes more money on bets on this day than at any other time of the year. This doesn't mean that all the professional gamblers of the world suddenly start upping their stakes. It simply means that it makes the whole thing even more fun if you've got a little something riding on the outcome.

    4. The Ads Are Cool

One of the main reasons people complain about the NFL is because of all of the stoppages and adverts that continually break up the game.

This is true. Normally the ads are boring and it can make watching a game feel a little bit like torture. The big difference on Super Bowl Sunday is that the advertising time is at its most expensive of the year and the big companies all go out of their way to make their mark.

Some of the best TV ads of all-time have been first shown during the Super Bowl. You may as well tune in live to see them happening in real time rather than waiting for them to appear on your Facebook feed the following day.

    5. It's A Great Excuse For A Party

There aren't many days of the year when you can justifiably party hard on a Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday is that unique kind of day.

Whether you know a defensive lineman from an onside kick makes no difference whatsoever. There will be food. There will be drink. And there is bound to be a good time to be had by all.

Come on, it only happens once a year. It's time to get the Buds in the fridge, the chicken wings on the grill, and to Google the words to the Star Spangled Banner.

    Game on!
