11 Pro Makeup Tips You'll Wish You Had Known Sooner

It's never too late when it comes to beauty. Straight from the pros at Sephora — learn a little something for next time.

1. Make it last all night.

To make your lipstick last all night, press a translucent powder on the finished look, blot with a tissue, and then reapply a top coat of color.

Try the MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microfinish Powder — it also works over foundation to even out complexion and soften imperfections.

2. Hide pesky blemishes.

Dab eye shadow primer on a hard-to-cover blemish before applying concealer. The primer works to grab the concealer and set it in place.

The Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion has a squeeze tube with a needle nose for easy, precise application.

3. Rock big-volume lashes sans clumps.

Evenly coat lashes with mascara and then press your lashes into the wand and wiggle the brush up your lashes. This helps to separate and coat each lash, creating volume.

For even bigger volume, try Benefit Cosmetics The Real Steal. The mascara wand includes a custom-domed tip that lifts and defines even your tiniest lashes (i.e. outer corners and bottom lashes).

4. Make it precise.

A bold lip color needs sharp, defined edges. Start with an "x" on the cupid's bow to accentuate the pout. Once filled in, clean up the edges by tracing your lips with a lighter concealer.

NARS Lipstick has over 30 different shades to choose from, and the SEPHORA COLLECTION Smoothing & Brightening Concealer has a tapered brush to make your lip lines extra sharp.

5. Avoid over-blushing.

When wearing a bold color on your lips, it's easy to overdo it with the blush. Keep this from happening by applying the blush AFTER completing your lip look.

Try Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush, the Amazonian clay (oh, yeah, this is harvested from natural clay along the banks of the Amazon River — how's that for natural?) minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep the product in place for up to 12 hours.

6. Customize your nude lip.

7. Give liquid eyeliner a boost.

Use a pencil liner to thicken the lash line through tightlining. Gently pull the lid taught and wiggle the pencil between lashes. Then switch to a liquid liner and continue creating your graphic eye look.

Try the Hourglass 1.5MM Mechanical Gel Eye Liner (3-pack); the mechanical pencil tip makes it easy to get as close to the lashes as humanly possible.

8. Rock a colored eyeliner.

9. Raise a perfectly shaped brow.

If you have a small amount of space between your eye and your brow, use a spooley brush to direct hairs downward and fill in the brow along the top.

Save some room in your makeup bag with this two-in-one Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Duo that has a spooley brush at one end and an angled brush to fill in brows on the other end.

10. Blend the night away.

Harsh lines from highlighting and contouring will make your final look appear unnatural. Makeup brushes and application sponges help blend everything together, leaving a soft finish.

Go ahead and take a look at the bright pink little egg-shaped sponge that everyone's obsessed with, The Original Beautyblender.

BONUS tip: You're supposed to dunk it in water, ring out, and towel dry first before actually using it to apply makeup.

11. Blend faux lashes.
