There's Now A Show Where Lads Become Roman Gladiators And It's Very WTF

This show, Bromans, was rumoured to have originally been called Ladiators (ITV won't confirm this).

A couple of weeks ago I stumbled across this synopsis for a new ITV reality show called Bromans.

And holy hell, good god, it's REAL.

They've literally paid for a replica ancient Rome full of actors and then shoved a lot of lads in it.

And then their girlfriends turn up in Rome.

Their first challenge in ancient Rome is for the men to be stripped naked and shackled together, while their girlfriends compete in an digging/wrestling competition to help them find some clothes.

We then hear the lads talk about themselves and hear their catchphrases, not all of which make sense.

And what becomes quite clear is that although the lads are really keen to take part in this show set in Roman times, they don't know that much about Roman times.

    No, they ate focaccia.

They really should have done some research.

I've checked and I'm taking this as a no.

Then you realise that the people making this show probably don't know that much about Roman times either, because the lads and girlfriends then go clubbing.

But they are confident, so that's cool.

And then there's this guy, who doesn't necessarily understand the concept of pretend time-travel.

British television is so damn weird.

Bromans (not Ladiators, as it's rumoured to have originally been called) is on ITV2 Thursdays at 9pm, or you can catch up on the ITV Hub.
