People Are Pissed Off With Moonpig For "Ruining" Mother's Day

"Could have bought a better bunch from a local garage."

Moonpig has been flooded with angry messages from people who say Mother's Day cards and gifts didn't arrive or were damaged yesterday.

The online retailer has blamed a supplier glitch for an issue that left scores of people, some of whom were left "gutted" and "in tears", with late orders.

Some are still waiting for gifts and cards to arrive, while a number of those who received the orders have complained about flowers looking as though they had been bought from the "local garage", with the buds dropping off.

One person said the company replaced kisses with question marks in her daughter's card.

One disappointed customer shared this picture of a personalised wine bottle, with the label visibly creased and damaged.

One woman, who claims to have ordered a vase with her flowers, said it arrived instead wrapped in soggy kitchen roll.

Another said she had ordered hers with a vase but it was broken on arrival.

Others said the flowers were "half dead" or did not look like the pictures on the Moonpig website.

The company said in a statement it was a supplier issue and said it was "compensating" customers.

But some hit out and said they were offered £5 credit ("a fraction of the cost") or a bunch of wilting lilies.

Moonpig told BuzzFeed News it was assessing refunds on a "case by case" basis.

"We've been working hard to put things right and by the end of Mother's Day almost all orders have been delivered," a spokeswoman for Moonpig said.

"We hope our customers accept our sincere apologies."
